Pair of Synthetic leather girth buckle guards for the short billet Total Contact Saddles. Use these girth guards between your girth buckles and your saddle to save your saddle from damage or use between your girth buckles and your horse to protect your horse from the perssure of the girth buckles.

Please note you get a pair when you purchase. These guards are suitable to be used with all the Total Contact saddles: Synthetic, Classic & Premium.

Girth Guard Care

Your girth guards are made of synthetic leather and couldn't be easier to care for. Just wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Do I need Girth Guards and how do I use them?

You may need Girth Guards if you are thinking of purchasing a short billet saddle. For more information on billet length please refer to our Billet Length Guide.

You can use these these girth guards in two ways:

  • between your girth buckles and your saddle to save your saddle from damage or;
  • between your girth buckles and your horse to protect your horse from the perssure of the girth buckles.

Work very well but do slide off when saddle not in use/being carried, so I have added plaiting band keepers for when transporting.

These girth guards are of a high quality and extend way down over the girth straps to provide excellent protection for the riders legs. I've had my TC saddle for many years now and didn't think it could be improved on but I was wrong - these girth guards are a great addition.

I'm very happy with the girth guards so far. I'm keen to protect the underside of my synthetic total contact saddle. My leather total contact saddle has already got a few marks on it from the girth buckles, over the 4 years I've used it, however I have bought a pair of the guards to use with that saddle too, to prevent any more marks. They work very well with both the leather and the synthetic saddle girth straps, I've had no issues putting them on either saddle. They are a great addition to the saddle.
